About

Developing participative media means developing people’s ability to shape their own future.
It’s the true meaning of the word ‘participation’ that provides both the focal point of the Lao governement’s current media policy and DEUTSCHE WELLE AKADEMIE’s media philosophy: All media should be ‘social media’ – life is one long conversation and media at its best is a facilitator of this conversation towards a better future. It’s along these lines our media projects in Laos are designed. We believe in supporting participative, that is S(!)ocial, media.
Welcome to DW-AKADEMIE Team Asia /Laos
It’s also along these lines we run our projects here in Laos: Open, transparent, conversational. As media and the way it is created are so deeply interconnected with cultural aspects, every project is as much a learning experience for our partners, as it is for us. How much do we know about media culture in Laos? Little. How much do we learn every day? A lot.
Every lesson learned is fed back into the process. Instead of preparing the big solution and then trying to implement it come what may, we keep our work in ‘perpetual beta’: Start, evaluate, iterate.
This blog serves as focal point to all Media Development-activities undertaken by DW-AKADEMIE and its partners in People’s Republic of Laos.
