Helping ‘Social Media’ become reality

Current Activities:

Since 2009, we have been developing a new participatory radio format in Savannakhet province. The new program (AM585: “Friends of the people”, Mo-Fr 8am-9am) was first aired in September 2009 and has been running ever since. In 2010, it is our partners’ wish to revise the show and turn it into a daily call-in-show. To follow current events, please refer to Project Status updates

We are cooperating with “Television Nationale de Lao” (TNL) on the development of a new TV-News format featuring local information from all provinces in Laos. To follow current events, please refer to Project Status updates

Together with the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at the “National University of Laos” (NUOL), DW-AKADEMIE is developing a project to support the faculty’s teaching staff. Future steps include the development of training material (visuals, guidelines, etc.) and practical use-cases for both students and teachers. To follow current events, please refer to Project Status updates

DW-AKADEMIE Team Asia /Laos supports its national partners, i.e. Laos National Radio and Laos National TV, in their engagement in shaping Laos’ media towards a reliable, valuable and sustainable service for people’s everyday-communication. Both our partners and DW-Akademie agree on the vital importance of reliablility of information, ease of communication and the promotion of cultural identity. We are therefore committed to a participatory approach, focussing on the audience’s needs and interests. As we consider this task to be an open process (we refer to it as ‘perpetual beta‘) rather than the mere implementation of a ‘master plan’, we would like to encourage all interested visitors to contribute at any given time: comment, interact, ask questions, develop and share new ideas. As the Blog grows, it will facilitate both participation and accountability.
